Civil War Sites Advisory Commission Report on the Nation's Civil War Battlefield
Congress established the Civil War Sites Advisory Commission in 1991 to identify the most significant lands associated with the Civil War and to evaluate their condition and any threats to their preservation. This report, published in 1993, forms the basis of The Civil War Trust's battlefield preservation efforts.

Status Report on the Preservation of the Nation's Principal Civil War Battlefields The American Battlefield Protection Program recently issued this review of the status of the 384 Civil War battlefields the Civil War Sites Advisory Commission identified in 1993 as threatened by development.
