The Howerz Misteke (the name comes from an early 19th century deed) is one of the oldest houses in Keedysville. It was originally built as a 1 and 1/2 story log house, but at some point the entire roof was raised and framing was added above the logs to make a full second story. The stone cellar contains the original cooking fireplace. The fireplace had been abandoned, and its chimney was taken down. They have since rebuilt. A post-and-beam addition (probably original) houses the kitchen on the first floor and expands the cellar. The building was used as a store in the mid 20th century, and then fell into several decades of disuse and disrepair.

The Clipp's Mill cabin was built for an industrial or commercial purpose (now unknown). It was built with some type of shed extension (indicated on a19th century map) rather than a back wall. Later, in 1924, a three-story frame grain mill was built around the end of the log building, which then became the mill office. The mill was operated until the late 1960s, after which both buildings began to deteriorate. The log building has been fully restored as a cabin. The mill, which contains much of its original machinery, has been stabilized.
The Wash House was a log outbuilding in Keedysville. When the current owner wanted to demolish it, we moved the logs, rafters, flooring, and corner stairway to Sharpsburg and rebuilt it behind the mill. A new shed extension houses the kitchen and bath.

A Sharpsburg landmark since 1804 the Inn has stood witness to history. Known as John D. Grove's Tavern in the 1830's and 40's, Henry Kyd Douglas cites John Brown as hauling loads of weapons past the Inn to the Kennedy Farm in 1859. 1862 saw the Inn and surroundings under Union artillery bombardment as the Confederates occupied the town before and during the battle. Afterwards it was used briefly as a field hospital to treat the wounded. 1863 saw the rebels passing through again on the way to Gettysburg and again on their return south. In 1864 the Rohrbach's sold their Burnside Bridge farm and moved to town. The Inn is named for Jacob Rohrbach who was killed on July 4, 1864 by horse thieves claiming to be Mosby's men in advance of Early's raid.

The Jacob Rohrbach Inn achieved the highest customer evaluations of all Inns in the Maryland Bed and Breakfast for the last three years. During your stay you will enjoy our large rooms furnished with antiques and reproductions, private baths, porches, and separate entrances. Begin each morning with Joanne's complimentary breakfast specialties prepared with herbs from her garden, home-baked breads and pastries, our specially selected estate grown coffee, and the morning news from the Washington Post. Briar Patch began as a simple one-room log cabin with a sleeping loft above in 1805. It is believed to have been a tenant house on Charles Fenton Mercer’s 1300-acre grant. The DiZerega family purchased Mercer’s home on the hillside over Aldie and its acreage in 1843, calling it by the name of Hillcrest. Hillcrest grew during the next twenty years, acquiring a large living room, library and dining room, as well as seven bedrooms in the main house, along with two cottages, a studio and ten-stall stable, milking parlor, and fenced fields for cattle and horses. By the 1860's, the little log cabin had become a beautiful estate. On a hot July day in 1863, a fierce battle occurred between General Alfred Pleasanton’s Federal troops who encountered severe resistance at Hillcrest from Colonel Thomas Munford's Confederates. As smoke swirled around the mansion, cannons roared and bullets hit its walls...where their mark remains to this day.
